| Biography: |
Joy Philippi is a fourth generation Nebraska farmer, producing corn and soybeans. Since 1997 she has owned and managed Pine Alley LLC, a swine production facility in southeast Nebraska. She was elected president of the Nebraska Pork Producers Council in 2000 and in 2006 she served the US pork industry as president of the National Pork Producers Council. She has many years experience of advocating policy and positions of the NPPC to legislators and regulators. She served the industry as primary spokesperson on the issue of Animal Identification and a host of other agricultural issues during her tenure on the NPPC board. Joy co-chaired the NPPC Farm Bill Task Force and advocated its passage before Congress. She has also been actively engaged in state, local and national politics and has served on many agricultural advisory committees. Prior to returning full time to the farm in 1988, she was a grain inspector and weigh master at a local grain company, and was an agricultural reporter for the Hebron Journal Register. Joy graduated from Southeast Community College with an associate’s degree in Journalism. |
