The safety of the meat and poultry
industry's 500,000 employees is of paramount
concern to U.S. companies, as evidenced by
progressive declines in industry illness and
injury rates. Meat and poultry companies must
comply with a wide array of Occupational Safety
and Health Administration regulations.
Companies also voluntarily use many ergonomic
programs and safety equipment to ensure the
safest, healthiest workplaces possible. In
2002, AMI and OSHA forged an historic agreement
to share their collective expertise to help
foster a culture of prevention while sharing
best practices and technical knowledge.
